Frank Wintrich began his career in college athletics as a strength and conditioning coach with Hardin-Simmons University. He subsequently spent one season as a conditioning assistant at Arizona State University and two years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with Utah State University. Between 2006 and 2007, Frank Wintrich worked at the Citadel in the position of director of athletic development, a role that involved all 15 varsity sports at the school.

After four seasons as the director of football performance at the University of North Texas, Frank Wintrich joined Brigham University as a strength and conditioning coach. He currently serves the University of Virginia in Charlottesville as director of football performance for the Cavaliers football program.

Wintrich studied sports and fitness management at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky. During his time at the school, he was twice named an All American athlete in recognition of his performance at linebacker. He also spent two years as a captain of the Wesleyan football team.
